How to Decorate a Coffee Table for Summer

The temperature in the summer is so fabulous that you constantly want to be outdoors. However, the weather doesnt always cooperate. In these instances, you'll certainly appreciate having a decoration on your coffee table that you can look at and envision the weather being sunny again. If youre going to create something gorgeous, it should be in a place in your home where you find yourself the most often. Here are some ideas for summer displays you can put on your living-room coffee table. They require little effort to make--and, even better, very little money. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Create your own beach scene. Buy a solid tray that has at least a 1-inch border all the way around it. Pick up some sand from a craft store and put a layer of it on the bottom of the tray. Stick in a mini plastic lounge chair from a doll set. Put a drink umbrella next to it and some real seashells scattered around in the sand. Its a little piece of the beach right in your own living room.

    2

Make a beach in a glass. Head to your local dollar store and pick up a few cheap martini glasses. Put in some cream-colored votive candles, then fill the area around them with sand. Throw in some small shells and mini glass beads. Finally, place the martini glasses on a cream-colored cloth placemat on your coffee table.

    3

Craft a fruit-and-flower-slice bouquet. Buy a large, clear, cylindrical vase, and also some flower foam, oranges and toothpicks. Pick up some sunflowers from a local farmers market. Take the foam and cut it to fit the vase. After the foam is the right size, cut the stems of the sunflowers and stick them in. Cut the oranges into slices (with the peel still on), take the toothpicks and put them through the center, then stick them to the top and sides of the foam. Put the entire piece into the vase and fill it with water. Afterwards, throw in some additional orange slices. Not only does the display have a summery feel, but it looks beautiful and refreshing.

Set up some palm trees on your coffee table. Get a bright green-and-white table runner and place it on your coffee table. Pick up about four miniature faux palm trees (or even some real ones) and put them in a line on top. Then take white tealight candles and place one in between each palm tree. This display is especially relaxing to look at on days when its pouring outside.
