How to Build a Cheap Craps Table

How to Build a Cheap Craps Table

Craps is an exciting game of chance played with dice. Some people would like to have a craps game for home play or to practice before they go to Las Vegas or some other gaming location. Building an inexpensive craps table is not as hard as it would appear. Most of the materials you need are available at home stores and gaming supply stores.

Instructions

    1

Put on work gloves. Open sawhorses and place them approximately 5 feet apart. Place one piece of plywood on the sawhorses.

    2

Mark a 36-by-72-inch rectangle on the wood with the measuring tape and the marking pen.

    3

Use the jigsaw to cut out the rectangle. It will be the playing surface.

    4

Place the second piece of wood on the sawhorses. Mark and cut two 36-by-11-inch pieces for the ends. Mark and cut two 73-by-12 inch pieces for the sides.

    5

Use the measuring tape and marking pen to scribe a line inch from the bottom 36 inch edge of each end piece. Drill six 1/8-inch holes equidistant along this marked line on both end pieces.

    6

Use the measuring tape and marking pen to scribe a line inch along the bottom of the 73 inch edge of each side piece. Drill 12 holes equidistant along this marked line on both and pieces.

    7

Align an end piece directly adjacent to the 36-inch edge of the playing surface. The drilled holes in the end piece should overlay the edge of the playing surface. Drive six wood screws through the 1/8-inch pilot holes and into the edge of the playing surface. Do the same for the other end piece.

    8

Align the side pieces along the sides of the playing surface. The drilled holes of the side pieces should overlay the side edge of the playing surface. Use the cordless drill and screwdriver bit to drill the side pieces in place.

    9

Unroll the playing felt. Lightly spread a film of carpenters glue on the playing surface. Place the playing felt on the playing surface so it is centered in all directions. Press the playing felt down firmly and allow to dry.

    10

Cut the additional felt in strips that will cover the inside of the end and side pieces. Lightly spread a film of carpenters glue on the inside of the end and side pieces. Lay the felt strips over the end and side pieces so they are totally covered. Press the felt strips down firmly and allow to dry.
