Wedding Decorations Ideas for Tables & Chairs

Wedding Decorations Ideas for Tables & Chairs

The way your tables and chairs are decorated at your wedding can make your special day more festive and beautiful. Not sure where to begin? Start with your wedding colors, flowers or theme and select decorations that complement them.

Colors

For a well coordinated look, match the colors on your table linens and chairs. If your wedding colors are pink and brown, for example, choose a brown table cloth with pink centerpieces. You can also match chair covers and sashes. For a modern look, vary the shades of your colors. For instance, if the tablecloths are brown, chair sashes can be a lighter brown or taupe to add variety and depth.

Flowers should complement your overall color palette, but new colors can be introduced here as well. For example, in a pink flower centerpiece, you could add splashes of yellow. But avoid overkill in using a single color throughout your wedding decorations. Using a tablecloth, chair covers, sashes and flowers in exactly the same shade or pink could be too much. Break up the monotony by introducing varying shades of pink or new colors, such as whites, browns, blacks or greens. White, off-white, black or brown are good colors for napkins and table runners because they often complement most other colors.

Chair Covers

Chair covers can often add richness and color to your wedding. If your venue's chair options are less than attractive, chair covers can solve the problem and potentially also make them more comfortable for the guests. Or they can be used simply to add another element of sophistication. For a clean, fresh look, use white or off-site covers. Or if you're already using white table linens, use colored chair covers in neutral colors like white, black, and brown to punch up your decor. The covers slip over almost any type of chair, so that even fold-up chairs can look classy. However, chair covers aren't essential for every wedding. If the budget is an issue, chair covers may not be necessary.

Sashes

Tie sashes around your chairs to further enhance the use of the color in your wedding. Sashes can be made of thick, rich fabrics or sheer ones. For an added touch, tie a few flowers into the knot of the sash. Use the same flowers that were used in the wedding or centerpieces. At a yellow and white wedding, for instance, tie sunflowers in the sash knot. Your guests can take these mini bouquets home at the end of the night.

Centerpieces

Use centerpieces that match your wedding colors or theme as well. Centerpieces can be made out of just about anything. For a traditional option, use a beautiful floral arrangement in the center of each table or place a tall, exotic plant, like an orchid, in the center of every table and let guests take them home as favors. Looking for something less traditional? Place floating candles in clear glass bowls on tables to add an intimate ambiance with flickering candlelight or place a fish bowl with a beta fish in the middle of each table.
