How to Make an Outdoor Table

Imagine a cheerful outdoor flower table that can be placed next to your chair anywhere in your garden. You can make it bright and whimsical. Here is how to make an outdoor table that is a one of a kind creation. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Free hand draw a daisy shaped flower with your pencil onto your 20-inch square of 1/2 inch plywood. Make the lines fairly dark so they will show through the white primer. Put your safety goggles on to protect your eyes from chips. Clamp the wood firmly on a worktable with a C-clamp. With the saber saw cut out the shape of the daisy flower.

    2

Sand prime and paint the wood. Fill in any large gaps in the plywood with wood putty. Let the putty dry. Sand the putty and wood edges. Apply white primer to seal the wood, and allow the white primer to dry overnight. The following day open your yellow paint and take a paint brush to paint the pedals of the daisy. Allow the paint to dry overnight. Paint the dowel green and allow it to dry overnight.

    3

Paint the entire table top and the dowel with a polyurethane, allow to dry completely.

    4

Pick up the dowel. With the saw cut a centered point at one end of the dowel for the table leg. With your ruler measure to the center of the table and draw a small "x." At the "x" drill a pilot hole for the countersunk screw. When the drill bit protrudes, center the flat end of the leg over the bit and continue the hole to the center of the leg.

    5

Glue and screw the leg in place. Add a finishing nail through the dowel into the tabletop to keep the leg from spinning on the screw. Sink the nail head by placing a nail set over the nail head and tapping it with a hammer.

    6

Your garden table is complete and ready for use.
