DIY Folding Varmint Bench

DIY Folding Varmint Bench

A varmint bench (shooting table), is essential for competing in varmint shooting contests or when you are out practicing. Though there are a number of commercially available shooting tables, you can make one at home in your spare time. A bench with folding legs is easier to transport and set up.

Instructions

    1

Place a sheet of plywood on sawhorses. Measure and mark 46 inches on one side and 24 inches on the other. Cut along your marks with the circular saw. This will give you a piece that is 24 inches by 46 inches.

    2

Measure 18 inches on the long side and make a mark. Measure 12 inches on the shorter side and make another mark. Using a yardstick or straightedge, draw lines until the two marks meet. Cut out the small rectangle you just drew with a circular saw.

    3

Use the router to round the edges of the table. Take your time with the router to ensure a clean edge.

    4

Sand the edges. A palm sander will make the work go more quickly, but hand sanding will work just as well.

    5

Prime and paint the table. Let dry completely before attaching legs.

    6

Attach legs with screws according to the manufacturer's directions. Pay special attention to the direction the legs fold.
