Table Napkin Folding Techniques

Table napkins can make for great decorative and functional pieces in your dining room. There are a variety of table napkin folding techniques you can try that can fancy up your table, or just give it a cute flair. Learn some of the various techniques you can try for table napkin folding. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Fan Burst Technique

    1

Fold about an inch piece of your napkin over, and then under itself. Do this until your entire napkin is folded to look like an accordion.

    2

Grab the center of your napkin between two fingers and fold it up so that both ends meet and it makes a fan-like shape.

    3

Place your napkin in a champagne flute or use a napkin ring holder to put the napkin through it a few inches, then fan it out so that your napkin sort of bursts out of the flute, or napkin ring holder, whichever you prefer.

Pyramid Technique

    4

Lay your napkin on a flat surface and fold it diagonally so that you have a wide triangular shape.

    5

Fold one of the small corner ends of your triangle up so that the small corner touches the top wider angle of your triangle. Repeat this with the other smaller angle so that your folds make a diamond, with a line down the middle.

    6

Flip over your napkin and fold the napkin in half, so that you are folding the center line that runs through the diamond shape. You should have a triangle with a line running through it on either side of your napkin.

    7

Fold your napkin now at the line so that your line opens up and you have a sort of pyramid that will stand up.

Cardholder Technique

    8

Diagonally fold your napkin to form the wide triangle as you did with the first few steps of the pyramid technique.

    9

Fold one of the smaller corners up so that it meets the wide top corner of your triangle. Do this again with your other smaller corner so that they form the diamond and line shape as with the pyramid fold.

    10

Flip your napkin over gently, find the corner where the line runs through and the ends are not open, then fold it up so that it points to the center of your diamond. Your diamond shape should now have one flat side, and should appear to be a smaller triangular shape within your larger diamond shape.

    11

Fold the sides of your napkin behind your napkin and press down flat, then put your place card under the little triangle fold with the line running through it.
