Table Skirting Ideas

Table Skirting Ideas

Party hosts and business owners find table skirts useful. When you use a traditional tablecloth on a larger table, it may slide out of place or bunch up around the edges, especially when people move things on the table. A table skirt circles the bottom of the table, hiding anything underneath it, including the legs. The skirt then attaches to a covering on top of the table. Table skirting ideas include a variety of materials. Does this Spark an idea?

Go Cheap

Vinyl or plastic table skirts are often much less expensive than fabric coverings. Keep in mind that these are temporary solutions and are only meant for a few uses. Constant tugging or pulling on the skirts can damage the material, creating holes or tears. If youre looking for a cheap table skirt for a party or one-time use, then look for paper skirting.

Fringed Skirts

Fringed skirts are made of an inexpensive material, such as raffia. The material is cut into thin strips and attached to a central piece, which circles the table. Use an adhesive material or table clips to hold the skirt to the table or to your table covering. These are often used with Hawaiian or luau themed parties because they tend to look like grass skirts. For dances and other special events, look for metallic fringed skirting. These skirts are made in the same way, but with a different material.

Pleated Skirts

Pleated skirts are typically made of fabric and come in a variety of styles. Knife pleated skirts consist of individual pleats placed in the fabric, with the pleats lying in the same direction. The skirts are popular at weddings and other special events. Box pleats are similar to knife pleats but have less volume. Table skirting also comes in a French box pleat style. This style consists of thin pleats placed in the fabric, which create a wide and full appearance. Gathered table skirts are similar, but these are made by sewing the ends of the fabric together. These are less expensive and may look slightly messy.

Add Elegance

A simple way to add an elegant look to your table skirt is using decorative swags. Swags are small pieces of fabric draped around the top of the skirt and attached to the top of the table. This makes the table look larger and adds a decorative element. Use swags in a slightly lighter or darker color than your tablecloth and table skirt.
