How to Decorate a Table at a Craft Fair

How to Decorate a Table at a Craft Fair

Craft fairs can be fun and profitable. If you are planning to have a table at a big event with several other merchants, it can be a challenge to design a tasteful display that will catch the attention of people passing by. Even the most quality merchandise can be overlooked if not enhanced by the right decorations and display. After all the time you have spent producing the handcraft or raffle item, it is important to make sure it is displayed properly.

Instructions

    1

Select colors that are eye-catching and match your products. For example, if you have tables to display your merchandise, cover them with material of complementing colors. Consider spray-painting wooden or metal merchandisers as well. According to the Color Matters website, recent marketing studies have shown that 80 percent of what is sustained through our senses is from what we see. A customer is much more likely to stop at a booth decorated in pink or red colors than black or gray.

    2

Choose decorations that will complement your merchandise. For example, if you sell vintage-style clothing, a dressmaker's dummy or an antique mirror can add an authentic air while being functional as well. If you are selling baked goods or other food, an open picnic basket or wine glasses can capture attention.

    3

Complement the season. If Christmas is drawing near, use a small lighted tree to display small items. During spring vases of fresh flowers make nice accents. Open boxes of chocolate or cute stuffed animals can add romance to your Valentine's Day display.

    4

Order a banner with your product or business name, as well as a website if applicable. This will add a professional look to your booth.

    5

Create levels with your merchandise by displaying items on crates, boxes, shelves or other merchandise placed at various heights. This helps keep the customer's eyes from getting "tired" and keeps interest.
