How to Maintain an Air Hockey Table

Air hockey is a game that many people enjoy. Those lucky enough to own a full-size table have invested a good deal of money in the game. The best way to protect the investment in a table is to perform routine and preventive maintenance. The maintenance is easy and takes only a few minutes a week.

Instructions

    1

Buy side shields to protect your table. Side shields prevent people from placing drinks on the table. Side shields also have the added benefit of helping to keep pucks from flying off the table during play.

    2

Clean your tabletop with rubbing alcohol or window cleaner at least once a week. Put the cleaner onto the clean cloth and not directly on the tabletop. Turn the air on when you clean to help the tabletop dry quickly.

    3

Don't clean the table rails. The dirt and dust on the rails help the puck bounce off them. If you leave the rails alone your table's play will improve over time.

    4

Check and clean the air holes in the tabletop at least once a year. Turn on the air in the table. Carefully insert the 1/32-inch drill bit in into each hole. Use the slowest speed.

    5

If your table has an oil hole, oil the blower motor every 3 months. Use standard household oil that is applied from a non-aerosol can to prevent oil from going where it shouldn't.
