Decoupage Ideas for The Kitchen

Decoupage, the art of cutting out, arranging and pasting down colored papers, can be used throughout your home as a decorative touch. The kitchen, considered by many to be the heart of the home, can in particular be brightened by your own individual decoupage touches. Does this Spark an idea?

Tables

The table is the center of the kitchen and the central gathering space for the family. You can decoupage your kitchen table with family pictures, treasured mementos, scenes of families cooking or depictions of ethnic foods and food-making.

Cabinets

Doors of cabinets can be taken down and decoupaged. While you may wish to add only a couple of decorative elements (for instance, an apple or two) to cabinet doors, you may also choose to create whole colorful scenes or geometric designs.

Wall Art

Following in the lines of modern artists such as Matisse and Picasso (decoupage.org), it is possible to create wall art using decoupage techniques. You could decoupage favorite foods or kitchen scenes on wood panels or canvas and then hang these over the sink or table.

Source Ideas

Look through kitchen supply catalogs, gourmet food magazines and your own collections of photographs and papers to find suitable pieces for your decoupage projects.
