How to Clean a Snooker Table

Would you play golf on a course that's dotted with giant weeds and tall grass? The same logic applies with a snooker table. In order to maintain the quality of your games, you need to maintain your table. With this guide, you'll be able to clean your table and keep it (and you) at the top of the game.

Instructions

    1

Determine the nap of the table. This is the grain of the felt of the snooker table. It usually runs from the bottom of the table towards the top, where the black spot is.

    2

Brush the table. You want to brush with the nap of the felt, which you just determined. Brush in vertical lines, walking up the table from the bottom to the top, where the black spot is.

    3

Sweep away the dust and debris. Once all the dust is at the top cushion, brush it into one of the corner pockets. You can stop here if you have no serious stains and don't want to vacuum.

    4

Vacuum. If you wish to vacuum, use a small brush attachment, and put the vacuum on a very mild setting as not to ruin the cloth.

    5

Clean the felt. The best way to do this is to use a cleaner made for taking stains off of a snooker table (see Resources). Spray the cleaner on, and let it foam and bring dirt to the top layer of the felt and then wipe it off with a clean towel. The nap needs to be brushed again after this.

    6

Clean the table. Often, the wood of the table is hard enough that you won't need special polish, so you can simply use a damp cloth. If you wish to use polish, make sure to dust the wood, and then spray on the polish and scrub.
