How to Make an Interactive LED Coffee Table

Not everyone can afford a fancy coffee table with four table legs that match. Sometimes you need to get creative with home decor to help your home stand out. It is especially important to do so at Christmas time, when all of the attention is on your decorations and the ways you are telling Santa that you have the most holiday cheer. This article walks you through how to make a mistletoe kiss-stopping coffee table with LED lights without breaking the bank. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Visit your local dump and locate pieces of wood for your coffee table. Find a flat slab roughly 2 by 5 feet or other size that will be proportional to your living room. Find four 18-inch wood table legs with the same kind of wood, if possible.

    2

Place the flat slab of wood on the ground, and prop up the wood table legs for attachment to the flat slab. Hold the table leg with one hand as you drill it into a corner of the slab with four wood screws -- one for each side of the table leg. Repeat for the other three legs.

    3

Turn the table over so that its four legs are firmly on the ground. Sand down the uneven legs with sandpaper.

    4

Wipe down the table with a soapy washcloth so that it is free from any dust or debris. Check the table for any sharp edges or splinters, and sand the edges as needed.

    5

Purchase a set of Christmas lights to attach to the top of the table and/or to the table legs. With a glue gun, dispense glue along the string of lights. Hold the string in place for 30 minutes.

    6

Allow the coffee table with LED lights attached to set for 24 hours. Finally, plug in your coffee table and enjoy.
