How to Set Up Your Table for Selling Your Crafts

Selling your crafts at a craft fair can be a good way to gain new customers and spread the word about your unique creations. However, setting up a table for the first time can be overwhelming. Plan your table display well in advance to avoid last-minute stress and prevent common mistakes such as not pricing items clearly; a well-arranged table will make it easier for customers to peruse your wares and increase your sales.

Write down a list of the items you want to sell and their prices. Try to include as wide a variety of crafts as possible to widen your target audience; consider price points carefully and balance a few expensive items with a larger amount of cheaper ones.

Drape a tablecloth or bedsheet over your table. This covering should be a solid color that contrasts with the colors in your crafts to help them stand out. A black or dark blue covering is usually a good choice. Measure the table in advance to avoid using an ill-fitting covering.

Price your crafts individually where possible. Customers may pick up an item to examine it, then set it down in the wrong place, potentially causing confusion for other customers. Tie price tags to suitable items such as necklaces, purses and rings, and attach adhesive labels to packaging.

Arrange your crafts on the table. Group similar items together and test a few different arrangements to find what works best. Make use of vertical space to draw the eye: for example, hang necklaces and bracelets in a jewelry frame holder, or stack a few heavy books under the table covering at the back of the table and lean large flat crafts such as plates or clocks against them.

Write a price list in large, clear handwriting on a piece of card stock and insert it in the tabletop picture frame. Stand the frame near the back of the table in the center.

Fold card stock pieces in half to create stand-up price labels. You should create one such label for each type of craft. Write the name of each item and its price on a label.
