How to Paint TV Snack Tables

Update a worn-out TV snack table with a little elbow grease and a fresh coat of paint. Painting is an inexpensive way to change the appearance of home decor and accessories. The key to a professional-looking paint finish is proper preparation. Take the time to prepare the surface of the snack table before you apply the paint. Use thin coats and even strokes and your TV snack table can look like new again. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Remove the tray from the TV snack table support legs. This step is not crucial, but it's easier to paint the underside of the table or to use two different paint colors if the parts are separated.

    2

Fill in any gouges or imperfections in the wood tray or legs with wood filler. Use a putty knife to press the wood filler into the crevices. Let the filler dry.

    3

Lightly sand the surfaces you plan to paint. Pay particular attention to any areas that you fixed with wood filler. Make sure that the surface of the wood is even. Sanding scuffs the old finish and prepares the wood to accept the new paint.

    4

Apply a coat of primer to the underside of the snack tray and both sides of the leg supports. You can use a paint brush or a small paint roller to apply the primer. Spray primer and paint is also a faster, but more expensive option. Allow the primer to dry completely.

    5

Flip the tray and prime the top and the edges. Let the primer dry completely.

    6

Paint the underside of the TV tray and all of the leg supports with your choice of latex or acrylic paint. You can use a paint brush, paint sponge or a small roller to apply the paint. Allow the paint to dry.

    7

Add a second coat to the painted surfaces, if necessary. Allow the paint to dry. Flip the tray and paint the top and sides with one or two coats of paint. Allow the paint to dry between coats.

    8

Reattach the tray to the support legs.
