How to Create Sand Art Pictures

How to Create Sand Art Pictures

When painted portraits wont do, there is always the fun alternative of sand art. Similar to paint, sand comes in many colors. You will need lots of table space and a clean, well-lit work area that is not by an open window, or where air can circulate freely and ruin your sand art picture. This can be a fun craft with children but they will need adult supervision. With a few simple tools and colored sand, you will be on the way to creating a masterpiece!

Instructions

    1

Place the plastic tablecloth on a flat table surface. Make sure no windows or fans are on around you to disturb your sand art.

    2

Place the paper flat on the table and prepare the surface using a pencil and stencil design.

    3

Using one hand to hold the stencil still; continue to trace the design onto the paper with the other hand, holding the pencil until you have achieved your desired picture.

    4

Trace pencil lines with the liquid glue and sprinkle on your chosen sand color. You may have to wait a few hours or a full day to proceed with the next color depending on how fast your glue dries.

    5

Continue to trace or fill the area in your picture with glue and add on the sand until it is complete. Wait at least a few hours or full day for it all to dry before handling your sand art picture.
