How to Make Nail Polish Thicker

Thickening your favorite nail polish will not only give you a manicure free of watery streaks, but it will also cover your nails and prevent chipping for several more days. Some people like to thicken nail polish so they can stencil and stamp designs on a manicure. Whether you just want a manicure that is more opaque than sheer or you have lofty goals of stamping custom designs on your nails, thickening your nail polish can be done in minutes. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Lay out a paper towel on a table to avoid spilling nail polish or xanthan gum powder. Open the bottle of nail polish.

    2

Place a teaspoon of xanthan gum powder directly into the bottle of nail polish. Xanthan gum can be found at most health or natural food stores. Add more or less xanthan gum, depending on how thick you want your nail polish. If you are not sure, add a small amount of xanthan gum at a time until you reach the desired thickness.

    3

Place the cap back on the bottle of nail polish and shake to distribute the xanthan gum evenly. Use the nail polish as you desire.
