Art Room Ideas for Kids

Art Room Ideas for Kids

An art room or craft room in the home for your children is a wonderful way to encourage them to express creativity. The art room is a place in the home where you can spend time with your children working on art and craft projects. When you make the decision to devote one room in your home to your children's art projects and creative endeavors, you must take some time to plan and design the room to meet these needs. Does this Spark an idea?

Furniture

An art room should have tables for your child to spread out and work on a project. If the room is large enough, you may want to consider adding more than one table for multiple projects at the same time. This is helpful when more than one child is using the room, as well.

Your art room requires comfortable seating at the table as well as a place to stretch out and relax. A futon or loveseat in the room will provide you and your child with a place to work on craft projects such as needlecrafts. For your little painters, include an easel.

While you want to be sure that the room has enough seating and table space for every art project, don't cram too much furniture in the room. An art room can easily become cluttered with supplies and projects.

Colors

The colors in an art room can be bold and vibrant. When deciding on wall coverings for the room, consider using chalkboard paint to provide a place for your child to scribble and draw on the walls. Chalkboard paint comes in a variety of colors that can coordinate with the rest of the furnishings in the room.

Supply Storage

Add wall shelves in the room to give you plenty of space to store your supplies. The art room should have plenty of paper, paints, clay, pencils and craft products available for your children to use in their work. You can use baskets to separate and organize supplies on the bookshelf.
