Job Fair Display Ideas

Job fairs are effective ways to recruit new candidates for your organization. A number of employers have an interest in staffing a table at a job fair in the same way that job seekers are interested in meeting with organizations. With so many attendees, it can be difficult to draw people to your table, especially if you don't have any specific positions open. Your table display may be your primary method for attracting candidates.

Stick with the Basics

Keep it simple by maximizing the resources of the personnel staffing the table. Some employers elect not to have a physical display board at their table. Sometimes job seekers gravitate towards tables with the nicest giveaways. You can choose to be more selective by foregoing a display board in order to get the clearest impression from potential candidates. Choosing not to have a display board will allow you to easily differentiate between which candidates have done their research and planned to visit your table and which ones visit by chance.

Focus on the Work of the Organization

If you are a fairly new company or if you want to better communicate what your organization does, focus the components of your display on the goals of your organization. List your organization's mission statement, goals or objectives and business lines. List some snapshot statistics about your organization: how many employees, the geographic area you cover (if appropriate), some key points of interest of recent accomplishments or organizational milestones. Providing this information allows candidates to make some decisions on components of the company (i.e., preferring to work for a large company versus a small company). As a supplemental resource, offer a handout that includes the same information that is on the display.

Focus on the Impact of the Organization

Some employers feel that organizational goals or statistics are easily available through publications or on their website. As a result, they choose to focus their display on communicating results or the impact of their organization's work. Some organizations do this by showing pictures of clients or people who have been helped or by including testimonies of work completed. The goal of this technique is to communicate impact. Candidates are offered a different perspective to determine whether or not they are interested in the results presented.
