Wedding Cake Display Ideas

Wedding Cake Display Ideas

Now that you've found the perfect wedding cake for the reception, you'll want to make sure that you choose a display style that will feature all the vibrant colors or original decorations that make the cake special. There are several ways to make sure that your wedding-cake display choices and accessories are just as impressive as the cake itself. Does this Spark an idea?

Flower Display

If there are edible flowers on your wedding cake, you can ask your baker to display additional "flowers" around the sides of the cake, and to use these flowers all around the cake table. You can also use a wreath of real or synthetic flowers around the base of the cake in your wedding color(s), or place the tops of tulips or roses in small clear glass bowls half-filled with water for an elegant flower-themed display that your guests will love to view while they're socializing or enjoying the reception meal.

Candle Displays

A wedding cake display that includes candles is ideal for evening wedding receptions, since it gives the dessert a more elegant feel. Place a candle holder a safe distance away from the wedding cake, using candles in the colors you've chosen to decorate the reception. Or, use large candles around the wedding cake, accented with decorations in the same color scheme, such as synthetic flowers or fresh fruit; for example, small red apples with for a red or pink-themed wedding, or lemons for a springtime yellow wedding. You can also arrange to have a large candle created in the shape of your new last name to be placed beside the cake.

Table Displays

It's a good idea to adorn the actual table to serve as the main part of the wedding cake display. Use a small table cover with a tablecloth in your wedding color. Or, tie a large satin bow around the front of the table. Add a strip of lace to the middle of tablecloth, or have the initials of you and your spouse monogrammed onto the tablecloth. It's also a good idea to add some personal elements to the top of the table, such as a black and white candid photo of you and your new spouse.
